ABOUT ME

I'm Cat Bauer — author, cultural journalist, and the original Venice insider. I've been based in Venice, Italy
since 1998.

My novels, Harley, Like a Person and Harley's Ninth, were published by Alfred A. Knopf, a division of
Penguin Random House.

I was a regular contributor to the International Herald Tribune's Italian supplement, Italy Daily, published
with
Corriere della Sera.

I've also been a contributing editor for LUXOS Magazine, and the Venice Insider for CNN Travel and
NineMSN.

I founded this blog in 2008 as Venetian Cat — now The Venice Gazette — to share the authentic Venice I
know: its life, art, culture, history, and hidden corners. It's one of the longest-running independent
English-language blogs about Venice, and has been featured in the
Financial Times Weekend Magazine,
read in 198 countries and territories, and translated into 160 languages.
